Hi, my name is Timm. I’m from Stuttgart, Germany and a member of shackspace the local hackerspace.
I’m interested in Thor because it is a open source robot which is easy to reproduce. I saw other robots, but most of them has a very small workload or require a big 3d printer.
In shackspace there is a commercial 6dof industrial robot from the 1980th. The software is proprietary with no good documentation and messed up with nasty bugs. I did some work replacing the path planner with the motion planner in ROS (Robotic Operating System).
A rough view on my interests for hobby is: electronics, mechanical, software design. To list only a few things I worked with: Arduino, BeagleBone, ESP8266, OpenWRT, 3d printer, FPGA, computer vision etc…
I would like to build the Thor. Hopefully I can contribute some improvements.
